Suddenly Dirty by J.A. Low

Title: Suddenly Dirty (Dirty Texas #1)

Author: J.A. Low

Rating: 4 Stars

Author's Blurb: He was everything she wasn’t looking for …
Finding a naked rock star in my bed was not how I saw my new life starting. Especially when that rock star is Evan Wyld, guitarist of the hottest band on the planet, Dirty Texas.
He looks dirty as sin with colorful tattoos, muscles and piercings in all the right places. Summer is about to heat up as I join Dirty Texas on their European tour.
She was everything he wasn’t ready for…
Sienna Hayes is off limits, but ever since the blonde bombshell accidentally climbed into my bed, I’ve been fantasizing about the ways I could help her get over her ex.
She has baggage, but I’m known for being a good time. Maybe I can be her rebound, help put her back together again.
One little taste can’t hurt; can it?

Review: Rock star romance isn't my typical genre of choice. Usually stories about fan girls falling for their celebrity crush just don't appeal to me. Suddenly Dirty seems to be an exception to that rule.
I really liked this book. It was fun, sexy and fast paced. I never got bored and more than that I actually really liked the characters.
Sienna was a great female character. From the moment you meet her newly single and disoriented waking up next to a naked rock star. I think her reaction of confusion, terror, lust, and shock were all well conveyed and somehow totally believable. I got to like her even more as the story progressed and you learn about her past and the events that lead to her taking a job with Dirty Texas.
Outside of Sienna our other main character is Evan Wyld, who I'm pretty sure was a guitar player and back up vocalist for Dirty Texas (Axel was said to be the lead vocalist but the author describes Evan singing to Sienna throughout the story so I think he got in on the vocal action as well)  Evan was...a sexy rock star from Texas. His character did the things I expected him to and he played his part in the story well. I can' say I ever found myself completely smitten with him but he never made me want to throw my kindle either.
We were also introduced to so great side characters in the form of Sienna's friends Vanessa, Derrick and Isla, as well as Evan's little sister Charlotte. I could see the seeds the author planted to set up future stories about these characters and their own rocker love interests and a few of those I found pretty intriguing. Most especially Vanessa and Christian and Charlotte and Blake. Those are probably the stories I am looking forward to the most coming out of this one.
I liked the plot line of Sienna's divorce from her husband Beau and the dynamics and twists we got along the ride. Sienna really was a strong, assertive and yet still fun to follow heroine and without giving too much away I will say that really shined through when it came to Beau.
Other than the merits of a good female lead (which is harder to find than it sounds) The other main reason I found this book enjoyable was probably the sex. I wouldn't class this book as erotica it's definitely safely seated in the contemporary romance genre but it was PACKED full of sexy scenes. And what's more they were really well written. The author didn't make me cringe at her vocabulary once and every scene fit the context of the book I never felt like it was just gratuitously thrown in for no reason.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of rock star romance or just to anyone who is a fan of fun sexy stories. I enjoyed this one and I will probably be checking out the next installment in the series sometime in the near future.

Dropout By Jamie Schlosser

Title: Dropout (The Good Guys Book 3)

Author: Jamie Schlosser

Rating: 5 Stars

Author's Blurb:
JIMMY
Over the past year, I’ve been called a lot of things. Slacker. Troublemaker. Party animal.
I thought I was on top of the world. Turns out, I was pretty close to rock bottom.
Now I have a new title: college dropout.
Talk about a reality check.
But I’ve got a chance to redeem myself. One summer to turn things around. Two months to prove I’m not a complete f*ck-up.
It’s time to change.
I want to get back to being one of the good guys.
MACKENNA
I have everything I need to live out my dream of being a reclusive songwriter—my guitar, my notebook, and blissful silence.
At least, I did until Jimmy moved in next door.
With tattoos, piercings, and mischievous green eyes, he’s got bad news written all over him. And last time I got with a bad boy, it ended horribly.
Jimmy makes me feel things I shouldn’t feel. Want things I shouldn’t want. He’s a hazard to my carefully laid plans.
But he’s only here for two months.
I can resist him...right?

Review: I love this series so freaking much! From the very first novel I feel in love with Jamie Schlosser's writing style and her oh so sexy, not afraid to be goofy, studly, alpha, or vulnerable "good guys." I thought I loved Travis and Colton from her first two books. I devoured their stories and rooted for them the whole way, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for me... then I met Jimmy.
SWOON SO FREAKING HARD!
I more than loved this character. He was, sexy, funny, kind, and more than a little bad ass for a "good guy"...plus he has the coolest grandmother in the history of grandmothers. Seriously I thought I would be turned off by the idea of a kid (he's only 19) with flower tattoos and nipple piercings...HELL TO THE FREAKING NO. Call me a cradle robber all you want that fictional man is all freaking man and all freaking MINE! James Peabody Johnson is my new favorite book boyfriend and I plan to tell the internet all the freak about it.
But all the swoons and thigh clenches aside this was another really solid story to fit with the trend of solid stories from Ms. Schlosser. I don't think there is anything that could have made me enjoy it any more than I did. I have really come to expect a fun, romantic, heartfelt ride from these books and so far I have yet to be disappointed.
I love how the pool of interesting characters and possible plots just keeps growing with each of these novels. I love the way we are introduced to and then get to keep up with these awesome characters and their world through the small town setting of Tolson. I'm really excited for the next addition to this series.
I can't wait to recommend this book to everyone!

More than Money by Allison Michaels

Title: More than Money (Found in Chicago #1)

Author: Allison Michaels

Rating: 5 Stars

Author's Blurb: Ryan McMillan believes hard work and perseverance are the keys to success, not games of chance. When he receives an instant lottery ticket, he never expects to win a dime, much less walk away with the grand prize.
Collette Russo is no stranger to hardship. Loss has taught her valuable lessons in grace and modesty, traits Ryan can’t help but notice on the winner’s cruise. Collette is the only other passenger not obsessed with material things and their mutual humility sparks an attraction neither of them anticipates.
As good fortune continues to favor Ryan, his relationship with Collette turns into a romance filled with affection and laughter, and his career begins to take off. Yet when his loyalty is tested, an old friendship turns sour.
Ryan chalks it up to greed and arrogance, and finds comfort in Collette’s experience with both. But an unthinkable event reveals that nothing is as simple as it seems. Envy and greed threaten to ruin everything.
Has Ryan’s luck finally run out? Can he take back control? Will Collette stand by him in the aftermath?
Only time will tell if love is worth more than money.
* Due to adult language and sexual content, this book is intended for readers 18 and over.

Review: This book isn't my typical type of read, but I am so glad that I decided to give it a chance. This is a fun contemporary romance set around wonderfully developed characters that made for a story full of heart and emotion with plenty of laughs and a few tears along the way.
From the very beginning I fell in love with Ryan's voice. He was funny, down to earth, relate able and frankly all of this together made him down right swoon worthy in a way that I would not have expected had someone described him to me beforehand.
It took me a slightly longer moment to warm up to Collette and get a feel for her character but inevitably I found myself rooting for her and her relationship with Ryan pretty much the whole way through this book. I also really loved the characters of her brothers Les and Neil and I really hope that as this is the first in a series we will end up seeing more from those two in the future.
Overall the characters where the heart and backbone of this story. The plot revolved around your emotional attachment to them and the workings of their lives. The pace never falls flat because the author chooses all the right moments to reveal each piece of the emotional puzzle that is this novel. The flashbacks and clues to bigger plot threads all blend together perfectly and made it easy for this somewhat tame story to keep me interested from the beginning all the way through to the last page.
I look forward to reading more from this author and hopefully more from these characters in the near future.

Elegant Retribution by Tee Smith

Title: Elegant Retribution (Elegant series book 1)
Author: Tee Smith
Rating: 5 Stars
Synopsis: Lilijana Bartholomew is in a bad spot. Pregnant, beaten, alone, everyone she ever believed cared for has turned their backs. She doesn't know what she do but she knows she can't stay in her small hometown any longer. The business card in her hand could be her savior, but it will also open a whole new door of unknowns.
Denim Gargliano is a powerful and respected man. His family's business dealing may not be all 100% legitimate but he is known to be fair and compassionate to the plight of those who surround him. When Lilijana bursts into his life she takes up quick residence in his heart as well. But Denim knows that he has to be careful, he can't allow her to get too close, he can't allow the dangers of his lifestyle to impact her in such a delicate time. But Denim's no push over, and he won't hesitate to protect those he cares for.
Review: I want to avoid spoilers here so I will try not to say too much. I really loved this story. I've come to expect a great plot surrounding wonderful characters whenever I pick up a Tee Smith book and the first book in the Elegant series was no exception.
Denim and Lili were great characters. Denim was strong and compassionate, he was sexy and also a bit hard headed. I wanted to shake him just about as much as I wanted to kiss him and I loved it. I love a male character with flaws especially when those flaws are all driven by his compassion and just a bit of naivety in ways of the heart.
Lili was that perfect combination of strength and delicateness that it so rare to find in a female lead. She was young and naive but she had also seen a lot of pain and heartache in her short life. Her response to her tough upbringing was beautiful. In some way she was hardened to it, she had a tough outer shell and a defiant sense of self. Lili didn't bend easily to the whims of others. In some ways this was to her detriment. Thus the naivety, Lili was stubborn and sometimes childlike in her refusal to accept assistance. But she was brave, and eventually willing to look past her past and open her heart to promises of the future.
Of course as wonderful as the emotional base for these characters was, it wasn't nearly the whole story. From the opening pages the plot moved along swiftly. I won't talk specifics on this because I think the events of this story are best read organically the way the author intends.
Ultimately this was a good read. I enjoyed it and I would recommend it to others. I look forward to more from this author and from this series.

Preppy Part Three by T.M. Frazier

Title: Preppy Part Three (The life and death of Samuel Clearwater) (King series book 7)
Author: T.M. Frazier (AKA The Queen)
Rating: 5...million Stars
Synopsis: Before you touch the beautiful fucking cover of this amazing piece of fucking art you better go back and do your due fucking diligence. This is may be the 3rd novel in the saga of Preppy and Dre and their gorgeously heartbreaking fucking love story but that's only half of what this fucking book is. Because what you are about to read is the 7th and final epic piece to the incredibly fucking fun, dick achingly heartfelt, and down right fucking dirty saga that is T.M. Frazier's King series.
Notice my over use of the word Fuck in this synopsis. Good. If it makes you uncomfortable then this book is not for you. If your cool with it then I urge you, whoever you are to take the God damn time to read these fucking books.
If you, like me, have done your homework and read/re-read every piece of T.M. Frazier material available to this point in anticipation of the mother fucking event that is this book. Then I don't really need to tell you anything about what your about to get because you already know.
You already know that this is the story of Preppy and Dre and their family.
This a story about love conquering all. Even death.
This is the final bow tie till I die, ride or die event with motherfucking PREPPY!
Review: I mean what more can I really say that I didn't already say above? What can I say that I haven't said about T.M. Frazier and this series before?
I can say that she did it again. She totally did. All the expected feelings and emotions, all the expected humor and amazing wit that is Preppy. All the glimpses of our other favorites from the series. She did all of that and more with Preppy 3.
Because this is the last book in the King series and it held that tone of finality throughout the entire book. As much as the swift pace and just utter dirty fun made me fly through page after page, the whole time I was cautioning myself against it. Trying to slow myself down and savor this story like the last of Mirna's chocolate chip cookies.
It's the end of an era. And if you haven't read these books from start to finish you'll have no clue what I'm talking about. But it really truly was. At the risk of spoilers...this is your only warning, it was an era of King, Prep, and Bear against the world. They've all been to hell and back none more so than Preppy, but they all came out the other side stronger and with their women and one another still by their side. Their little family has grown but it's still 100% intact. It's fucking beautiful and heart wrenching and yet because it's T.M. it's also funny and sexy and filled with intrigue and suspense.
It was near fucking perfect if you ask me.
That's all I got. I don't think I can say more without just gushing over ever spoilery detail and you guys know I hate to do that. Simple to the point I loved this fucking book. I loved this fucking series and these fucking characters and I think T.M. Frazier is fucking amazing.

Damnable Grace by Tillie Cole

Title: Damnable Grace (Hades Hangmen #5)
Author: Tillie Cole
Rating: 5 Stars
Synopsis: The Hangmen are back and there are more evil fucks out there for them to take on. The nasty pedophile cult fuckers seem to have been silenced for good but they managed to empower some even crazier white trash skinheads on their way out. For AK and the rest of the psycho trio the thought of what that Nazi poser Meister is doing to the remaining cult bitches in his backwards ass brothel town are bad enough without even adding in the knowledge that they have Phebe, the club VP Ky's wife Lilaha's sister. AK can't stop thinking about the red headed cult slut and he knows he can't just leave her to such a fucked up fate. After everything he's seen in his life, first as a soldier in the US Marine Corps then as SGT at Arms for the Hangmen, after everything heartache he's caused in his miserable life. He thinks saving this one bitch might be his only redemption.
Meanwhile Phebe's pretty much given up any hope of ever getting out of Meister's grasp. The pain she has endured has crushed her spirits. She no longer believes there is any good to be had from this world when all she has ever known is it's evil. She lives with many regrets but one more than all others, one that haunts her dreams and leaves her begging for the potion. The potion Meister injects in her veins that makes everything feel better. Sometimes through her haze she see's a pair of kind brown eyes. They belong to a devil's man. A devil's man with angel eyes that showed her kindness and mercy when she believed none existed. All Phebe wants to do is sink into the haze with the vision of those eyes.
Review: Tillie Cole has done it again. Her Hangmen series never seems to disappoint when it comes to the promise of hard hitting action, emotional trauma and gut wrenching heartache, all laced with an undercurrent of true love conquering all. Each novel in this series has been well crafted to this formula but I don't believe any more so than Damnable Grace.
AK and Phebe's story is one of the most tragic and gut wrenching of any so far. Yet it's also somehow one of the ones with the most hope.
From the very beginning you can see that this will be a darkest before dawn story. One that will lead you in to past and present trauma with a promise of bright sunshine to come.
Being the 5th book in the series has given Ms. Cole plenty of time to set up backstory and context for these characters, and I applaud her for the way she dove into those stories so fully and wholeheartedly in this book. Finally revealing in full context who these people where and what made them tick while simultaneously weaving in the other novels both past and future.
This story gave me all the feels. I had so many emotions from start to finish. There was suspense, horror, disgust, sadness, warmth, lust, happiness, more sadness, more horror and disgust, some more sadness, and then some more warmth, lust and happiness. It was a an entire gambit of feelings and they ran together seamlessly. Once again I was blown away by an addition to what is probably my all time favorite MC Romance series ever.
I can't say enough about this book without getting into spoiler territory so I won't even try. I'm just going to end this by saying thank you Tillie Cole. Thank you for creating this world and pumping out book after book of enjoyable content within it. I truly can not wait to dive into the I Do Babe novella and I anxiously await book 6.

The Precious Ruby by C. Renee

Title: The Precious Ruby
Author: C. Renee
Rating: 3 Stars
Synopsis: Louise never imagined her life could become such a mess so quickly. One fated night a sexy dangerous man with a motorcycle stepped into her world and changed everything forever. For a long time things with Matt were really good. He may have been the president of a shady motorcycle club and owner of sex club that she was banned from ever entering but he seemed to really care for her. It wasn't long before she realized how wrong she was. Matt didn't care about her, not the way he claimed. She was nothing more than a possession to him, a rag doll to take out his anger on. So Lou decides she's had enough. She runs away, barely escaping with her life. With the help of an old friend she tries to get herself back on track and moving forward. She meets a new guy, he may be a arrogant billionaire playboy but he seems to have a good heart. Of course things can't stay good for long, before she knows it one knock on the door changes Louise's fate once again and this time it might be for good.
Review: So basically my synopsis above encompasses everything that was good about this novel. That it is to say that the idea of this story is the best part about it. The plot and story line are really interesting and the pace moves along swiftly. The problem I found with this book was in the writing. I'm not trying to bash the author as I know this is a debut novel and I can really see the threads of good storytelling throughout so I think that shows a lot of promise. But as far as this one goes it just wasn't all there for me.
So many times some of the wording made me cringe, there was so much repetition and so much flipping from past to present with no warning except for a sudden change in font. Some sentences were written in both past and present tense within the same line and there were a few noticeable typos throughout that signified to me a need for some better proofreading. The kindle edition of this book that I read felt a lot more like an advanced copy or an non-finalized draft than a book that is ready for mass publication.
I really hope that doesn't sound too harsh because I mean it in the best possible way. I'm trying to say that this story has good bones. A really great plot and some interesting characters that I totally could have followed if the writing style was just a bit more clear from start to finish. I did not hate this book by any means and I really hope the author continues to write and publish her work as I can see some true promise in the way of what's to come for her in the future. As for the Precious Ruby, maybe I'm just too judgmental, maybe the good bones and plot are enough to make this story really enjoyable for someone else but for me it was just kind lackluster. I didn't hate it but I also didn't love it. Do with that what you will.

Never take my word for it when you can read the book for yourself. Get your own copy with the link below.

Obscured Love by Delilah Mohan

Title: Obscured Love
Author: Delilah Mohan
Rating: 5 Stars
Synopsis: Lotus Bishop has sworn off dating the same kind of guy. After seemingly endless run ins with heartbreak and unsatisfactory relationships she knows that "her type" is totally the wrong type. So her and her best friend decide to make a list. One that will highlight all the unsavory things she typically goes for, like cockiness and arrogance.
Beckett Fucking Cole is totally the wrong type of guy for Lotus. Not to mention he's her older brothers best friend and has been treating her like a kid sister her entire life. Lotus knows that getting involved with Beckett is the worst decision she could make, still she can't seem to stay away.
Review: I want to keep this one short and sweet kids. I loved this book! I read this puppy in three days and I can not even remember the last time I was so hooked I stayed up until 2AM to finish something, but alas my beauty sleep was most defiantly cut short by Beckett Fucking Cole. (I'm pretty sure that might actually be his middle name.)
From the moment this fictional man walked into my life and a drunk Lotus' apartment I was hooked. Then I found out he had a motorcycle, tattoos and a tragic past...can someone bring me new panties?
Seriously though this was a really awesome love story, filled with heart, humor and a few touching teary eyed moments, all laced with a good amount of passion and sex.
I feel like as a reader I don't ask for much, just the simple things like well developed characters, a plot line that never falls flat, and a few moments that make me want to swoon. Obscured Love delivered on all of that and more. It is really hard to believe that this is the author's first novel! I am very excited to read more from her and hopeful we can maybe revisit some of these characters again.
Like Bentley and Myra (was there a thing going on there I feel like there might have been?) and Auggie/Gus I really need to know what happened to him and why did Lotus call him a God damn hero? I want more from this world. I wanted more from this book, I was sad to see it end and yet glad for the lovely way it finishes.
That's really all I have to say about this one. There aren't any points that I want to pick apart, no bad stuff that stuck out and nagged at me throughout the plot. I just really enjoyed this book and I really hope that there is more from this author in the form of a series going forward.

Updrift by Errin Stevens

Title: Updrift (The Mer Chronicles book 1)
Author: Errin Stevens
Rating: 4 Stars
Authors Blurb: For Kate Sweeting, love isn’t in the air. It’s in the water.
Since her father died, Kate Sweeting’s home life has been in the pits, her well-being on life support. Her future looks desolate until she and her mother, Cara, make another plan: abandon their shriveled existence for more promising prospects on the coast, where Cara can play small-town librarian-bachelorette and Kate can figure out what’s up with that secretive Blake family from the beach.
Everyone is eerily captivated with Kate and her mother, and Cara is the first to figure out why when the man of her dreams arrives all dripping and devoted and closed-mouthed about what he intends. Kate is willing to go along with their subterfuge for a while, but eventually makes a charge for the water to learn what her mother is hiding. Gabe Blake is there waiting for her…and so is someone considerably less friendly. By the time Kate navigates her way home, everything will have changed for her—what she feels, what she wants, and what she’ll risk to be with the man she loves.

Review:
So, this book starts slow... Like ridiculously slow. Like so much so that I kind of stopped reading it in favor of other books like 3 times during the first 10 chapters. Now that sounds harsh but see here is the thing, somewhere around the end of part 1 beginning of part 2 that slow tone completely changes and this turns into a really exciting and interesting read.
I won't lie to you, I wanted to like this book from the beginning. I am one of those little girls that never recovered from her first viewing of Disney's The Little Mermaid. I have pretty much been obsessed with the idea of beautiful colorful Mer-people swimming around in the ocean somewhere for as long as I can remember. Admittedly this probably gave me pretty high expectations going in. Knowing this I tried really hard to give Updrift the benefit of the doubt all through part one. All through the seemingly endless backstory of Kate Sweetings life with her mother Cara. The tireless ways that she filled her time, first as a child with a sad mom and a couple of nice best friends and then as a teenager forced to spend way too much time on school and work and none on social interactions in a weird push from her parental figures that Kate never questioned even when she expressed mild distain for it. The author took the idea of telling one story to set up another a little too far if you ask me. I honestly think I could have had the entire part one of this book summed up in 2-3 chapters and been totally happy and invested enough in the characters to add context to the next parts of the story. Also I probably could have done without anything Will and Dana related, not that they were terrible uninteresting characters just that they seemed kind of pointless... like filler in a book that needed absolutely no help with additional content.
HOWEVER. I really need to emphasis this, by the time part one ended and part two began I was hooked by this book.
I mean really I can kind of pinpoint the moment that turned it around for me. It was when Gabe pulls Kate into the water and begins the swim to Shaddox. From that first instant, when she screams his name out at the sea without even knowing why, I knew I couldn't turn away from this book.
I loved every single fantastical element of this book. I loved the way the author played with Mermaid/Siren lore and myth. I loved the colorful description and the way the reader was truly drawn into the experiences of swimming with these creatures and seeing them in their natural habitat. I LOVED the villain of this story. I loved the way he was introduced (which admittedly was in that slow part one of the story that I talked of and I thought pretty much nothing of it at the time) I loved his backstory and the overall themes of the importance of family that permeates this entire story.
Really it's kind of surreal how much I loved the last two parts of this book in comparison to my feelings over the beginning. What makes it even weirder for me is that I totally see what the author was trying to do by giving us so many details up front (many of which come back up in one way or another later on). I can see that she wanted you to know and care about these people before things started moving fast and getting intense. I respect the storytelling abilities of the author, this is easily one of the most well developed books I have read in a really long time.
I think in the end I have to say that I enjoyed this book because anything else would be untrue. I may have been a bit less than enthused in the beginning but really the moment that switch flipped I was definitely 100% in and by the last page I was totally experiencing all the feels this wild ride of a story wanted to make me feel.
In fact I have already began trying to find other people to read this one because I feel like I need someone to talk about it with...if that doesn't mean it was a good book I don't know what does.

Claimed by Magic - Claire Marta

Title: Claimed by Magic (The Hunter Chronicles Book 3)
Author: Claire Marta
Rating: 5 Stars
Synopsis: Welcome back to Claire Marta's amazing world. Where the supernatural beings that have laid silently amongst us mere mortals since the dawn of time are still revealing themselves fully to Jasmine Hunter. After a heartbreak like none before, at the hands of the frosty but handsome vampire Eric on her last adventure in Prague, Jasmine is trying to pick up the pieces of her seemingly shattered life. Incomes her BMFF (Best Mage Friend Forever.) (Yes I just made that up.)
Twitch doesn't tell Jazzy where they are going, only that he wants to help her move on and intends to cheer her up. He has no clue what type of surprises await them when they arrive.
An ancient evil is returning for revenge and once again Jasmine finds herself in the center of a magical battle of good vs evil.
Will her broken heart and destroyed self confidence stand in her way? Or will she once again overcome the obvious obstacles and prevail? Will she heal along the way?
Review: I don't know how to begin gushing over this book. The third installment in Ms. Marta's Hunter Chronicles series has been far and away the most amazing ride yet. I tried to take my time reading it, wanting to absorb every detail in this incredible world that I could. Yet I kept finding myself rushing onwards not being able to put down my kindle, needing to know what would happen next.
In previous reviews for this series I have mentioned how I thought Jasmine was a weak character. I believe I called her a damsel in distress that only seems to be around to get herself into situations which require saving by one of our many hunky and mystical men. I agreed with Eric's decision at the end of book 2 to have her removed from her job with Scotland Yard. I actually celebrated that someone in the series finally acknowledged her bumbling nature even if it was our main male lead and even if he did do it in kind a of a dickhead way. That all comes full circle in the book however, as Jasmine is forced to prove to herself and anyone around that she is indeed a force to be reckoned with on her own. I won't say too much on the subject to avoid spoilers but I have to acknowledge the growth of this character throughout the series. She has come so far, with so much road left ahead of her, and I love the way the author has walked the reader along with her one step at a time.
The supporting male characters while always great also took it to a knew level with this installment. As we get to know more about Twitch and where he comes from we peel back layer after layer of Jasmine's quirky sidekick, leaving me absolutely clamoring for more.
We see in this book that even an ancient vampire master set in his ways like Eric can grown in leaps in bounds in only a short time. Though I won't say anymore on that at this time anyone who has read this book knows exactly what I am referring to.
I love some of the new characters we meet as well, especially Benedict, Dane and Ella. I love the relationship shared between the three cousins ( although there was one aspect that had me thinking a little too much about separation of blood-lines ) But all in all the trio added some humor and companionship to this novel that may have been the darkest and heaviest on gore and action of this series thus far.
In all this book has definitely been my favorite of this series to this point. It has left me more excited then ever to get back to this world and these characters and find out what fate has in store for them next.

Please don't take my word for it. Check out this book for yourself using the link below.

That's what your favorite sexy-as-sin villain would say to you, right? And he'd probably say it with one hand around your throat and your dress bunched around your hips.
It’s doubtful that he’ll buy you flowers.
He definitely won't serenade you.
But there's a good chance he'll tie you up and spank you if you ask nicely. And the only jewelry you'll be getting? Is a pretty pearl necklace. Unless you count the rope bracelets he threads around your wrists when he straps you down and f*cks you until you forget your own name.
Leave the chocolates and the jewelry to the good guys. It's time to go dark side this Valentines Day.
Review: Happy Valentines Day?
Maybe, if you fucking hate all things mushy and sweet just about as much as you fucking love dirty taboo fuckery, then maybe you can call this book romance. But honestly it would still be a pretty far stretch. This is a collection of short stories, more like scenes really, from some of the most talented names in dirty dark romance writing today. This book offers you a nasty little taste of some of the characters you already hate to love and briefly introduces you to some new dark villains to fantasize about in your nightmares. I found myself pulled in to each scene, each character. In some instances (like T.M. Frazier's entry My Possession) I knew exactly where I was and who these characters where. In other cases it was a bit more disorienting, meeting new characters setting new scenes diving into a new world, only to be ripped out by HUGE cliffhanger endings (Skye Warren I'm looking at you) Pretty much every one of these stories left me wanting more. I will be searching these haunting villains out and adding them to my to be read list immediately...So yea, I guess it was a pretty happy Valentines Day.

Forever by Abrianna Denae

Title: Forever (Destroyed by Love #1)
Author: Abrianna Denae
Rating: 5 Stars
Synopsis: Marley Fallon is broken. She's hiding from the person she used to be, trying to create a new life for herself after being betrayed by the people she trusted the most. She has no intention of getting attached to anyone new while she figures herself out. Until she meets Wyatt Hensley.
Wyatt wants to keep his distance from the mysterious new girl. He has so much crap to deal with on his own, the last thing he needs is some pretty rich girl getting in his way with all of her pretty rich girl problems.
The two find themselves inevitably drawn together despite their resistance. They share parts of themselves with each other that they have never wanted to share before. They find something in one another that they never imagined they could find. And then they find out that forever may not be as long as they think.
Review: I loved this story! I'm a sucker for young couples in love and Marley and Wyatt ooze with fairytale ending potential from the very beginning. The characters in this novel are so strong and intelligent, way beyond their actual ages. The emotional moments are full of heart and I found myself riding every rollercoaster feeling right along with them.
The characters in this story are young. Wyatt and Marley are both 16/17 years old and still in high school. When I first realized this I thought for sure I could expect a typical YA romance, full of overly anxious declarations of love and maybe a sparkly vampire or hot guy with cancer. Thankfully there was none of that. This story is told with a depth and maturity that is hard to find in YA. Combined with some of the decidedly adult content and language I would say this novel boarders on New Adult territory despite the young age of the heroes.
So many feels in this book, from beginning to end. This novel took me to sweet lovely highs and gut wrenching ugly cry lows all without any major plot theatrics. The subtle build of the characters emotions allow you to really feel what they feel in some of the more intense moments of the story without needing to over play any one moment.
Some of the twists and turns of the story caught me completely off guard as well. There were a few moments (none bigger than the actual ending of the story) that snuck up on me and left me questioning everything I thought I knew. This story ends in a cliffhanger in the most unexpected way. It left me dying to continue the series and with no choice but to wait patiently for the next release.

Whispers and the Roars By K. Webster

Title: Whispers and the Roars
Author: K. Webster
Rating: 3.5 Stars
Synopsis:
***THIS STANDALONE IS BEST ENJOYED WHEN YOU DON'T READ ANY REVIEWS OR SPOILERS BEFORE READING. GOING IN BLIND IS BEST. TRUST ME.***
That said, this novel is about a girl named Kady and her boyfriend Yeo. 12 Years ago Kady pushed Yeo away at the urging of his family. She broke his heart and kept him at arms length for over a decade while he went to school and made a good life for himself. She was devastated at the loss of her one true love but she knew it was for the best. Yeo was a force of light and Kady was nothing but a pit of darkness. But now Yeo's back and he's not ready to let the ghosts of Kady's past tear apart the possibility of their future. Yeo's home and along with their longtime bestfriend Bones he plans to chase away the darkness in Kady's mind...as soon as she let's him.
Review:
This was a lovely story, filled with twists and turns and oh shit moments that I would never want to spoil for a potential reader. The things that Kady endures as a child are more than anything I could ever imagine someone actually surviving and I love the way the author lets you in on each gory detail bit by bit through flashbacks.
The love story of Yeo and Kady is a touching one. At first I thought it would be just another second chance / love conquers all cliché fictional pairings but I soon realized there was a whole other layer of depth to the story of the terrible three.
When the twists first started coming I was confused. For a while I was even a bit put off by some of the actions that were seemingly taken place.
By 56% into the story when the true nature of these characters is finally revealed to the audience I was shocked. My jaw dropped. I even flipped back a couple pages and read them over to make sure I didn't miss anything.
Everything made sense after that, every action, every question, every thing that was making me doubt the sanity of the story started to come together right at that moment.
And yet there was still so much plot to be had.
Part of me loved that we the audience were let in on the secrets before the end. That we were let in to the world of Kady's mind a little bit.
But then there was a part of me that felt like there was no mystery after that.
A touching love story? Sure. There were plenty of swoon worthy Yeo moments still to be had.
But I was no longer really interested in the conclusion of the story.
From that point (just slightly past the middle of the book) I kind of didn't care what happened next. And honestly it was kind of a shame as the mystery had been beautifully built up to that point.
Overall, Whispers and the Roars was an interesting story with a beautiful romance and plenty of heart felt emotion and I would recommend it to any romance fan looking for a decent mind bending twist.

Like always, don't take my word for it.

Preppy: The Life and Death of Samuel Clearwater, Part 2 by T.M. Frazier

Title: Preppy: The Life and Death of Samuel Clearwater, Part 2
Author: The Evil Blonde Ginger (AKA T.M. Frazier)
Rating: How many stars is all of the stars? Because multiple that number by like 100 and you have a close idea of my rating for this book!!!
Synopsis: Welcome back to Frazier world mother fuckers, my how things have changed! Preppy makes his true return to the land of the living in this second instalment to his three part love story. Watch as he tries to come to grips with the tortures of his past and figure out a way to get his life back on track when it seems everyone else has moved on so drastically without him. Grace is dead, Chop is dead, the MC has been taken over by Bear, who seems different and weirdly happy with the crazy pink haired girl. King and Doe (who's real name is Ray BTW) are pumping out kids faster than you can say 'get some condoms'. To Preppy it seems like everybody has something going for them in this new life except for him. All he gets are fucked up memories and a few blissful flashes of a girl with dark hair and red fuck me lips.
Dre has come to Logan's Beach for closure, but she finds Preppy instead. At first she can't even believe he's really alive. All the time she spent pining for him and grieving over him. But she can't forget that he was the one to send her away in the first place. She may have begged him to keep her then but this time is different, this time she is the strong one.
Review: Another beautiful, intense, funny, and heartfelt novel from T.M. Frazier.
Unless you are new to my reviews, you probably already know that I drank this lady's Kool-Aid like over a year ago and have not stopped worshiping at her alter of alpha-males and fucked up love stories ever since. I can't help myself, when T.M. releases a book I gobble it up and begin begging her for seconds moments later.
The Preppy saga has been no exception.
I have loved Preppy since his first appearance in 'King'. I have laughed, cried and obsessed over this fictional man for 6 fucking books now and still it never gets old. Between his quick wit, perverted humor and sexy evil hipster description, what's not to love? This entire storyline of him and Dre just takes it to an all new level.
Dre is the ultimate counterpart to Preppy's evil genius. She's gone from dirty junkie to sweet pin-up in the span of two books and I can't get enough of her transformation. She's flawed enough to hang with our sinister beach crew and innocent enough to keep Preppy on the insane side of good, never letting him transform fully into the Joker like villain that we know lies somewhere beneath his surface.
T.M.'s world is like no other in the way that all of her characters' stories intertwine so fully and yet stand alone so well. I love when we glimpse in on her other couples and sneak a peek at the tales yet to come but still those little glimpses never detract from the story at hand. I never get so caught up with what is happening with King and Doe or Bear and Thia to forget about the importance of the current stakes between Preppy and Dre.
Of course because this is the second part of a three part story there was an inevitable and unavoidable cliffhanger at the end of this book, and I will warn the weary reader that it is quite a surprise. Even after reading and seeing a few of the pieces I over looked, that could possibly end up being valuable clues, I have no guesses or suspicions, just more unanswered questions. So if sweating it out with zero answers until book 3 doesn't seem appealing, you should probably wait until the final installment is available.
Unfortunately for me I have no such control over myself,  so when the opportunity to read this book early was presented to me I of course devoted the following 6 hours of my life to Preppy part 2.
I really had no choice if you think about it...I mean, it's Preppy.
I regret nothing!
